Nearly all machining operations generate oil mist— the aerosol formed when oil is used to cool or lubricate metal and plastic components during manufacturing. Without proper extraction, oil mist creates health and safety concerns, including respiratory problems and skin irritation as well as slippery surfaces, contamination of ventilation systems, and damage to sensitive equipment. Proper ventilation is what can prevent oil mists from fouling equipment, products, and the working environment.

Nordfab's Quick-Fit Sealed (QFS) Ducting is specifically engineered for oil mist and coolant mist applications. Nordfab offers a three-part system for sealing ductwork to prevent leakage: QFS Gaskets, QFS O-rings, and QFS Sealant. For applications requiring maximum leakage protection, laser-welded seams, epoxy-caulked joints, nitrile sealing components, and a double-sealing connection design helps minimise leakage throughout the duct system and supports cleaner, safer production environments.

QFS ducting is advisable for facilities, including:

Nordfab Ducting cannot guarantee a leak proof system in all installations, even when using the QFS sealant & 'leak free' QFS gaskets, due to variables beyond our control such as the craftsmanship of the duct installation, the chemicals within the duct, and the expertise of the designer.
