Quick-Fit Sealed Duct for Mist Applications

Nearly all machining operations generate oil mist— the aerosol formed when oil is used to cool or lubricate metal and plastic components during manufacturing. Without proper extraction, oil mist creates health and safety concerns, including respiratory problems and skin irritation as well as slippery surfaces, contamination of ventilation systems, and damage to sensitive equipment. Proper ventilation is what can prevent oil mists from fouling equipment, products, and the working environment.

Nordfab's Quick-Fit Sealed (QFS) Ducting is specifically engineered for oil mist and coolant mist applications. Nordfab offers a three-part system for sealing ductwork to prevent leakage: QFS Gaskets, QFS O-rings, and QFS Sealant. For applications requiring maximum leakage protection, laser-welded seams, epoxy-caulked joints, nitrile sealing components, and a double-sealing connection design helps minimise leakage throughout the duct system and supports cleaner, safer production environments.

QFS ducting is advisable for facilities, including:

Steel and rolling mills,
Rubber and plastics manufacturing,
Metalworking processes such as turning, cutting, milling, grinding, drilling,
Wet applications and oil mist environments, such as food waste processing.

By combining a leak-tight design with Nordfab's Quick-Fit connection system, QFS Sealed Ducting reduces installation time, labour costs, and the need for specialised welding expertise. The system eliminates extensive seam welding and avoids the use of messy sealants, making installation faster, cleaner, and more cost-effective.

Nordfab Ducting cannot guarantee a leak proof system in all installations, even when using the QFS sealant & 'leak free' QFS gaskets, due to variables beyond our control such as the craftsmanship of the duct installation, the chemicals within the duct, and the expertise of the designer.

Quick-Fit Sealed (QFS) Ducting — enhanced leak resistance

Quick-Fit Sealed (QFS) Ducting is engineered with laser-welded seams, double sealing at connections for enhanced leak resistance. All joints are epoxy caulked and when clipping the ductwork together, an additional nitrile gasket is placed between the parts to avoid leakage. Epoxy caulking and locking pins ensure a tight seal, making it ideal for oil mist and coolant mist applications in machining operations.
