Quick-Fit installation at a high school
Creating a cleaner woodworking environment for the next generation
Nordfab Pty Ltd recently completed a dust extraction installation at a high school in NSW, Australia, helping provide a cleaner working environment for students and staff in the school’s woodworking workshop.
The installation features approximately 30 metres length of galvanised Nordfab QF ducting components, ranging from 80 mm to 315 mm in diameter, connected to an eCompact 6000 dust collector.
Effective dust extraction is particularly important in woodworking environments. Cutting, sanding and machining timber can generate fine airborne wood dust, which may affect respiratory health and contribute to other health risks. SafeWork NSW identifies local exhaust ventilation (LEV) as standard industry practice and recommends that dust-producing processes are fitted with LEV.
A properly designed dust collection system can help:
✅ Capture wood dust close to the source
✅ Reduce airborne dust in the workshop
✅ Create a cleaner working environment
✅ Reduce dust accumulation on equipment and surfaces
✅ Support safer working practices for students, teachers and workshop staff
In NSW, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 places a duty of care on employers to provide, so far as reasonably practicable, an environment that is safe and without risks to the health of workers and others. SafeWork NSW also provides specific guidance on controlling risks from airborne wood dust.
This is another great example of how the Nordfab Quick-Fit ducting system can support effective dust extraction in woodworking applications.
