Nordfab Provides Dust Collection Ducting for Children’s Home

long-board-created-at-childrens-homeNordfab Ducting recently assisted with the installation of a dust collection system for the woodworking shop at Falcon Children’s Home, a home serving at-risk students in the foster care system. The home is located in Falcon NC, USA. The wood shop is available for young residents at the home to learn to use woodworking machinery. Lessons and supervision on the machinery are currently provided by a number of woodworking community volunteers.

Recent woodworking projects created by some of the home’s residents include longboard skateboards (photo at left) and patio chairs (pictured below). The young people sell the patio chairs (a sewing machine was also donated) and are able to keep their proceeds for spending money.

Nordfab donated all the ductwork required for the dust collection system. These generous volunteers (see group photo below) donated their time to install the ductwork:
•    Dave Bubb from Nordfab Authorized Dealer, Delong Equipment
•    David Jones from Nordfab Authorized Dealer, Carolina Industrial Filtration
•    Mike Merzke of Merzke Custom Woodworking
•    John DeGreef of JD Vending Inc.
•    Carl Sanders
•    Jerry Underwood

John Wheeler, COO of Falcon Children’s Home, stated that Mr. Joseph T. Leggett, CEO of FCH, along with the houseparents and staff of the organization, are very excited about the improvements to the shop, which will allow Falcon to offer more formalized training for not only the home’s residents but also community students attending classes at Falcon Christian Academy, the campus school. “By providing this opportunity we hope to spark an interest that may result in these students finding a trade or deciding they want to seek opportunities for higher education.”

Nordfab is proud to have participated in this worthwhile community effort to help young people.
