Sliding Access Panel
Nordfab Ducting Makes Ductwork Maintenance Faster and Easier with New Sliding Access Panel
Thomasville, N.C. – In the past it was difficult to clean out clogs in sealed ductwork or to inspect safety equipment. Now, with the new Sliding Access Panel (SAP) from Nordfab Ducting, users get tool-free and easier access than with traditional bolt-on doors.
“Nordfab’s SAP uses a sleeve to allow access to a large laser-cut opening in the ducting,” says Robin Bolick, Nordfab regional account manager. “Two clamps hold the panel tightly in place. By opening the clamps, the panel can slide open for easier access for inspection or maintenance.”
The access panel opening is laser-cut and there are no bolts to snag debris making the SAP extremely smooth to stay cleaner than traditional clean-out doors.

Money Saved, is Money Earned
Nordfab Ducting is the world’s largest supplier of clamp-together ducting. With production facilities in both North Carolina and Nevada, they have a very high usage of steel. Last year their production team began a scrap awareness program.
“We had a scrap rate of around 570,000 lbs. of steel per year”, states Steve Moore, Plant Manager for Nordfab. “This was 11.6% of our total annual steel purchase.” The team’s goal was to reduce scrap to 9.87%, which was a 10% reduction. “Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, over an eight month period we were able to actually reduce scrap loss to 7.64%, which was over a 35% reduction!,” says Steve.
“Over the past eight months we have purchased approximately 2,566,000 lbs of steel. At the old rate, we would have scrapped 297,000 lbs. Instead we only scrapped 195,000 lbs. Over 100,000 lbs. of metal have not been scrapped and therefore, have not been re-purchased. Cost savings on this was over $75,000.00”, stated Steve.
“When the Nordfab employees were made aware of the high usage of steel and the high scrap rate, they strived to better conserve and improve old habits from much busier times”, says Division Manager, Tom Ballus. “They also developed ways to better use our cutting tools and production methods. Teamwork and a strong effort by the entire product department produced this success.”
Standard Dutry Automatic Blast Gates
New Nordfab Ducting Standard-Duty Automatic Blast Gate Improves Efficiency, Reduces Operating Costs
Thomasville, N.C. – Improving the efficiency of air filtration systems can reduce cost and extend product service life. That is the idea behind Nordfab Ducting’s new Standard-Duty Automatic Blast Gate that attaches to air exhaust ducts and opens only when necessary.
“The gate opens to exhaust air only when the machine is operating,” explains Curtis Wood, Nordfab inside sales manager. “This also reduces the air drawn from the work area, saving HVAC costs.”
The gate is value-priced for users who need a robust unit but not extra features available on other products. It is built for years of continuous use and carries a two-year warranty.

Nordfab Introduces the Mist Recycler
Nordfab Ducting Mist Recycler Removes Excess
Vapors and Mist from Air Stream
Thomasville, N.C. – Excess moisture in the air stream can significantly reduce filtration system efficiency. Nordfab Ducting’s new Mist Recycler can remove much of this airborne liquid near the pick-up point, greatly reducing moisture accumulation, leaks and bacterial growth.
“The Mist Recycler uses a removable impingement baffle to pre-filter vaporized water, oil and grease from the air stream,” says Brian McAlpine, Nordfab regional account manager. “This reduces the amount of liquid entering the primary mist collector and lengthens filter life.”
Liquid collected in the Mist Recycler drains into a sump and is returned to the machine. The Nordfab Mist Recycler features two drain taps and can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.

Nordfab Introduces Quick-Seal Clamps
Nordfab Ducting Improves Clamp with New Overlap Design
Thomasville, N.C. – Nordfab Ducting, the originator of clamp-together ducting, has introduced its new, tighter-fitting Quick-Seal Clamp.
The innovative overlap design creates downward pressure on all 360 degrees of the seal. This uniform force creates an even tighter seal, especially for low positive-pressure systems.
“Tighter seals provide greater savings,” says Tom Ballus, Nordfab division manager. “With the Quick-Seal Clamp, air leakage is minimized, and fans don’t have to work as hard. Customers gain significant energy savings compared to other clamping products.”
The Quick-Seal Clamp also features a longer, stronger handle to improve leverage for easier clamping. It is manufactured in the United States and is standard on all Quick-Fit ducting orders.
